Willow Glen’s Appeal
Located in central San Jose, Willow Glen is one of Silicon Valley’s most popular communities. It dates back to the mid-1800s and was, at that time, considered independent of San Jose.
To forestall a proposed railway line down Lincoln Avenue, Willow Glen became a city in 1927. Lacking services, such as sewage, and lacking the desire to go to the expense of creating a city sewage system, residents later agreed (although the vote was quite close) to allow the city to be annexed by San Jose.
